Goodyear’s 125th Anniversary Tyre Innovations in Malaysia

This Tuesday, Goodyear hosted a regional event called Goodyear: 125 Years in Motion, unveiling four premium product lines for the Asia Pacific area. The corporation also emphasised its 125-year history of technological research and reaffirmed its commitment to a sustainable Better Future.

The immersive event, which featured Nathaniel Madarang, President of Goodyear Asia Pacific; Pietro Saletta, Vice President of Consumer Tyres, Goodyear Asia Pacific; and Greg Hanna, Vice President of Product Development and Quality, Goodyear Asia Pacific, drew nearly 300 customer representatives and 100 media members.

Throughout its 125-year history, Goodyear has constantly created multi-brand product portfolios to provide drivers worldwide with assured mobility. On March 18, 2019, Goodyear celebrated the creation of its one billionth tyre at its Akron, Ohio, facility. The facility, which is one of Goodyear’s oldest and largest, is located in the city’s East Akron suburb. The tyre in question was a passenger automobile tyre destined for a client in the United States.

Goodyear workers, customers, and local authorities joined the celebration. The tyre was officially revealed and later presented to the Smithsonian Institution’s National Air and Space Museum. The Malaysia event marked a significant milestone for Goodyear, highlighting the company’s dedication to innovation and ongoing progress. The firm has been producing tyres for almost 120 years and is one of the world’s largest tyre producers.

“Asia Pacific has emerged as one of the world’s largest automotive markets and holds incredible potential,” said Nathaniel Madarang, President of Goodyear Asia Pacific. “Thanks to Goodyear’s innovative spirit and drive for excellence, we are at the epicentre of the mobility revolution, and we are collaborating closely with customers and innovators to transform the transportation industry.”

Four New Products To Improve Your Ride

The four new items are Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 for Luxury Sports, Wrangler DuraTrac RT for Premium 4×4 Off-Road, ElectricDrive, and Assurance MaxGuard for Mid Passenger. These new products, powered by Goodyear’s sophisticated technology, provide customers with the finest driving experience and expand Goodyear’s product options throughout Asia Pacific. Notable customers from many countries and media members were invited to a track event to see the exceptional performance of these four new products.

Excellence In Innovation For A Better Future

During the event, the tyre maker also showcased its commitment to a Better Future with interactive exhibits that involved attendees in Goodyear’s outstanding solutions and services for future mobility. The company is dedicated to improving energy economy, safety, tyre durability, comfort, convenience, and digital-based solutions. Goodyear showed their 90% sustainable-material demonstration tyre during the event, emphasising its aspirational aim of developing a 100% sustainable-material and maintenance-free tyre by 2030. The world’s foremost automobile manufacturers put their confidence in Goodyear branded tyres.

Looking ahead to 125 years, Goodyear maintains its commitment to providing our customers and communities with a long-term vision that will allow mobility well into the future.

For a conventional passenger automobile tyre, the time it takes to produce a Goodyear tyre is generally around 1 hour. The manufacturing procedure might take several hours for more sophisticated tyres, such as those used on racing automobiles or aeroplanes. Mixing, milling, curing, bead forming, building, and curing are the primary phases in the production of a Goodyear tyre.

About Goodyear Tyres:

For almost 120 years, Goodyear has been a premier tyre producer that has innovated. To make its tyres, the business employs a number of technologies, including:

Goodyear employs a specific rubber formula that is designed to deliver greater traction, durability, and fuel efficiency.

Vulcanisation: To link the rubber molecules together, Goodyear employs vulcanisation. This makes the rubber tough and long-lasting.

Computer-aided design (CAD): Goodyear designs their tyres using CAD. This enables the manufacturer to design tyres tailored to individual cars and driving situations.

Finite element analysis (FEA): Goodyear uses FEA to assess tyre performance. This enables the manufacturer to spot possible issues and make changes before the tyres are created.

  • Goodyear has received several honours, some are listed below:
  • Goodyear has received the Tyre of the Year award 17 times.
  • PACE Award: Goodyear has received the Automotive News PACE Award ten times.
  • Goodyear Innovation Award: The Goodyear Innovation Award has been given to Goodyear 15 times.

Goodyear has also developed many tyre industry advances, including but not limited to:

  • The first radial tyre
  • The world’s first self-sealing tyre
  • The first run-flat tyre
  • The first tyre with an integrated sensor

Goodyear employs about 70,000 people and works in more than 200 countries. The company’s business strategy is to “make tyres that make the world a better place.” This entails creating tyres that are both safe and efficient, as well as ecologically beneficial.
