The Indian team has secured the 2023 European Rally Championship (ERC) with two victories and two podium finishes after six rounds of the competition. There are still two rounds remaining in the championship.
With two rounds remaining, Team MRF Tyres has successfully defended their title as champion of the European Rally Championship (ERC). MRF became the first Indian manufacturer ever to win a championship in top-level rallying in 2022, and the team has successfully defended that title in this year’s competition too. In 2023, MRF also became the first Indian manufacturer to ever win a championship.
Martin Sesk is the only driver in this season’s championship to win two rallies. The team has a 54-point advantage over the BRC Racing Team. On the other hand, the Sister team (MRF Tyres Dealer) is now in third place in the standings.
The Indian team has had a successful season, highlighted by Martins Sesks and co-driver Renars Francis’ victories at the gravel-based Rally Poland and Rally Liepaja. Both of these victories came in quick succession.
Last month, Simone Campedelli and Tania Canton won a stage at the all-tarmac Rally di Roma Capitale. Efren Llarena, the reigning drivers’ champion for the squad, and co-driver Sara Fernandez also landed on the podium in the asphalt Rally Islas Canarias. Because of this, the squad is currently in an unbeatable position going into this week’s Czech Rally. They have two victories and two podium finishes under their belts after six rounds of competition.
We knew it would take dedication and determination to succeed, and to do it once was a challenge. To back up that success in 2023 proves the talent and skill of the entire team at MRF Tyres. We knew it would take dedication and determination to succeed. Arun Mammen, vice-chairman and managing director of MRF Ltd., offered his congratulations to the team and added that he was looking forward to the difficulties that the company will face in the future.
In spite of the fact that the championship for the teams has been decided, the championship for the drivers is still up for grabs. Sesks, who drives for MRF, is presently in second place overall, 55 points behind Hayden Paddon, who is in first. We went into this year well aware that it would provide several difficulties. Because of the extremely high level of competition in the FIA European Rally Championship, every result must be earned. This is because the quality of both the teams and the drivers is quite high. “I have been extremely proud to represent MRF Tyres in the Championship, and being able to stand on the highest step of the podium after winning both at home in Latvia and in Poland has brought my level of pride to an all-time high,” Sesks stated.
The MRF Tyres Dealer Team, which is MRF’s second squad, is currently in third place in the standings. Mads Ostberg and Patrik Barth of this team have finished on the podium, and Andrea Mabellini and Virginia Lenzi of this team have won individual stages.
