You’d be hard-pressed this week to have not heard of Raspberry Pi computers with the launch of the new Pi5. One thing we were pleased to see, as well as the huge increases in processing power and other significant upgrades, was that the general dimensions and footprint of the Pi5 remain largely consistent with the Pi4. This is great news for Tindie makers who sell add-on accessories which brings us to this Low Profile Prototyping Board.
This custom-designed protoboard effortlessly slips into place onto the Pi’s pin headers but also flows around major components like the HDMI socket, camera connector socket and 3.5mm jack socket. This means that it can sit at a very low height over the Pi board enabling your prototypes to potentially fit in a standard case. The protoboard has 288 through-hole pads set out in the standard 2.54mm or 0.1″ spacing pattern we all know and love. It’s a classic protoboard design with no connecting traces between any of the pads so you’ll need to utilise bent component leads or point-to-point wiring for your prototype.
Designed to fit all Pis from the Pi1 through to Pi4 we are confident that this would also fit the brand-new and pre-orderable Pi5. With a Pi5 and a low-profile prototyping board, we look forward to seeing what projects people come up with!
