There are plenty of temperature sensor families out there across a range of prices and accuracy. It’s a common rite of passage to build some kind of temperature data logging experiment. This tiny board uses a TMP117 which is a high-precision digital temperature sensor that meets some pretty high standards and therefore can be found in medical-grade thermometers and more.
Makerprobe has taken this high-quality sensor and placed it on a tiny PCB equipped with a Qwiic compatible connector; this means it’s super easy to incorporate this into projects that use the Sparkfun Qwiic system to build largely I2C sensor projects. But, of course, you can always create a custom 4 Pin JST SH cable to connect it to your bespoke project.
The other thing that caught our eye about this small breakout board is that the PCB substrate is Aluminium, This is a great choice for projects where you need a really low thermal resistance enabling your project to react quickly to temperature changes.
One thing of note is that there is no level shifting on board so as such it’s only suitable for 3.3V systems but there is provision for attaching an LED and a test point on board. Footprint wise this little quality board comes in at 8.5*10mm meaning you can probe temperature in the smallest of spaces. If you need a high-quality thermal probe that’s easy to connect and write code for, check this board out!
