I have lost count of the amount of times I’ve needed to find a coin cell to test a project or a long forgotten badge from the collection. I’m also aware of how often I pop a coin cell out of a blister pack when it only needs to verify if something works. Therefore, this Coin Cell Power board caught my eye as a useful option for testing projects at my bench.
The board has a USB-C connector and, when fired up, you can switch between 3V and 5V output via the coin cell adaptor. This end of the board simply slides into any side loading coin cell holder to power the device. It’s worth noting, however obvious, that this will only work with side load coin cell holders designed for the common CR2032 battery rather than the top loading variety. As well as being able to switch the voltage there is also an on/off switch which is great for semi-permanent switchable displays. Speaking of display, each board also has a JST connector and is supplied with a cable so that you can connect multiples of these boards together. If you have a range of badges you wanted to display, either for fun or profit, you can daisy chain these supply devices off one USB socket. This makes setting up a badge display a breeze and less wasteful in terms of consuming coin cells!
